Women In Coffee
ZICOFE is a member of International Women in Coffee Alliance. (IWCA Uganda Chapter), an orgarnization with the sole purpose of advocating for gender equality and women’s rights.This partnership has enabled ZICOFE to coordinate and execute gender based programs in the farming communities especially at household level with training and sensitization on household financial decision making while including women, farm managment, primary health,providing access to our processing and roasting facilities,micro-lots for export, value addition and financial literacy.Through these activities, we hope to make a difference by availing opportunities for the womens involvement in the coffee value chain.
Ugandan Robusta has a rich aroma, a full body with winey flavours and is just the perfect finish for espresso blends. The natural Arabica, Drugar, is described as sweet with fruity notes and has a low acidity, whereas the washed Arabica has a rich full body with a good aroma
Ugandan Coffee is a unique African coffee in the fact that it has a low acidity. This coffee is mild and smooth, with pleasant chocolate/tobacco/cedar notes, low to medium body. Exhibits flavor nuances of brown sugar and dried fruit, with a cocoa aroma.
ZICOFE offers farmers especially women & youth training on various activities in the coffee value chain in the form of better farm practices, financial literacy, health, agro-input knowledge techniques. During this training, we teach farmers sustainable production practices, how to increase their yields, when to harvest, and post-harvest handling
